EUROPEAN MEETING OF LA SALETTE LAICS
6-10 September - Salmata

From the 6th through the 10th of September in Salmata (Umbria), at the Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette, the “2nd European Meeting of Lay La Salettes” took place. The meeting was attended by delegations of lay people from the four European Provinces of the Missionaries of La Salette (Italy/Spain, France, Poland, Switzerland),  with four provincials and the general of the congregation, father Silvano Marisa accompanied by two counsellors, and the Nuns of Our Lady of La Salette with a delegation of lay people also.
In our Italian-Spanish delegation, we had people coming from Rome, Turin, Terni and Spain! For some of us at the meeting there was the great joy of seeing each other again exactly one year after the International Meeting of Lay La Salettes which took place last September in France, and for the others the chance to meet people coming from different places, but united by the same love and attraction for La Salette charisma. It was an important opportunity for sharing and enrichment!
The nature beauty in which the Shrine is immersed and its own charm helped us in the atmosphere of concentration, silence and prayer that characterized our days together! The topic dealt with in the European Meeting was: “Come near my children, don’t be afraid… to see, to judge, to act”.
From the beginning and for the entire meeting, we highlighted the importance of the decision no.7 of the General Chapter of the “Missionaries of La Salette” (April 2012), in which we are invited to set the lines of cooperation and sharing between Lay La Salettes and vowed Missionaries: “… it is a fact of ecclesial communion made up of the spiritual and operational contribution of the two groups that integrate, in their own Christian vocation, the specific connotations of the La Salette charisma, as a gift given to the Church and of which the MS’s are not the only owners, but simply consecrated men called to share a gift. It follows that they don’t have to be afraid to share it with the laity…”. This decision of the General Chapter opens a scenario of “large horizons” for La Salette family, calls and commits laics and MSs to “creativity” and to go beyond the “already seen” with the purpose of gradually carrying out a real integration which allows us to live together the challenge of a new evangelization at the service of “reconciliation”.
Very interesting and enriching were the conferences given by father Poli and father Gian Matteo (MS) that offered us respectively a precise analysis on the economic, social, religious situation in present Europe and an investigation and a new reading of La Salette Message in the light of the Old Testament and John’s Gospel. Very fine and attracting for our lay vocation were the “dough yeast” and the “weaver of compassion and reconciliation” images which underline the importance of becoming, through a courageous and strong testimony of Christian life, common richness serving the new evangelization so urgently needed by this “godless” world!
Very enriching was the work of the single linguistic groups on the theme of “Operating”, which allowed us to think and wonder how to practise the specificity of “Lay La Salette’s” vocation both in our everyday life and on a national and European scale as an extended group.
The hints, ideas and proposals from all provinces were many: the need to build up a European secretariat working as a reference and coordinating communications, information and meetings organization, the proposal to give birth to a common European magazine, the idea to establish a European Movement of Lay La Salette which could be based upon a shared education, communion through common prayer (the commitment to monthly Novena and the celebration on the 19th day of the month), the decision to organize next European Meeting in 2014 in Poland!
During the meeting we also had convivial and funny moments! The folk evening in which everyone was expected to present his own country gave us all a good time, and besides on Sunday 9th the surprise lunch organized for all participants in the Shrine park was really appreciated for the nice setting and the very good food! Finally we surely cannot forget the nice trip to Assisi on the trail of St. Francis that we had on Sunday afternoon!
In the end, during the Holy Mass on Sunday there was the celebration of the 1st anniversary of the “International La Salette Laity Day” with the presentation, during the offertory, of the symbols prepared by each Province, representing the features of the lay vocation. The symbol of our Province was very appreciated. It was a pin depicting a “bridge”, which for us represents the peculiarity of our vocation as Lay La Salette, called mostly and particularly to be “bridges of reconciliation” all over the world!!

SEPTEMBER 16TH MORENO VALLEY, CALIFORNIA -- LA SALETTE DAY

FIRST LAY LASALETTE COMMUNITY IN
CALIFORNIA
Welcome to a very great day.  This was September 16, 2012 in Moreno Valley, California, USA.  It was a day when the six people standing before the altar knew that the memories of Jose Nacu, Ike LaPuebla and Romy Seleccion were being consecrated and engraved forever in their souls.  This small community has taken root in the Southern part of California because of the single minded efforts of the above named missionaries.
They had help.  Ron Beauchemin was instrumental through his prayers and his selfless pursuit of documentation that he provided from the files of the Lay La Salette community from the Northeastern corner of the USA.  Fathers Dennis Meyer and Joe Bachand put some marvelous icing on the cake in the process that brought us this far.  These are the people who grabbed Our Lady of LaSalette by the hem of her skirt and would not let go until some Moreno Valley stones turned into sheaves of wheat.
The road that brought this little community here is long and winding.  Like so many other adventurous paths, it required patience, understanding, mutuality, collaboration and downright, "do 'til you die" reconciliation.  It is a road that still has a far off horizon.  It is a horizon that is not always clear because of the mountainous terrain that has to be negotiated.  It passes through gaps of heavenly grace bounded on both sides by Alps of competing human interests.  It took nearly six years to get where it is today.  Who knows what the next six years will bring?  The young community has now begun to carve out its way through the mountains to the future.  Much has to be done.  More dedicated members must be invited, trained and formed.  The organizational processes have to be defined and put into place.  Community life of the committed six has to be defined through its prayer practices.  Mary and Her Son are waving His arm over us in blessing.
Now that all the heavy lifting is just about finished, it seems to be time to invite the La Salette friends and alumni within the sound of our voice to consider the call of Our Lady of La Salette to "Come near, my Children.  Do not be afraid."  The invitation is a challenge.  The response to the challenge is a reward so great and so deep that it cannot be described in human terms.  Pray over it.  If you hear Her voice, let us know and we will help you to listen.

KATERI TEKAKWITHA -- LILY OF THE MOHAWKS -- LIS DES MOHAWKS -- LIRIO

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kateri_Tekakwitha
Hello, one and all.  This is a great month because some of my favorite members of the communion of saints are going to be celebrated.  First and foremost, the Guardian Angels, followed by the 8 French Jesuits martyred by the Indigenous People of Northeastern North America in what is now Canada and New York State (Jean de Breboeuf and Isaac Jogues appear as headliners on the calendar), Saint Ignatius of Antioch and finally, new this year, Saint Kateri Tekakwitha, Lily of the Mohawks.  She appears on the sheepskin painting on the left of your screen.  The world had to wait 332 years before being able to celebrate this brave virgin in heer full glory of sainthood.  I remember admiring her as I was growing up in the Western part of Massachusetts where the French Jesuits were heroes and Kateri was honored and revered.  God willing, I will be in St. Peter's Square to lift my heart up to her in love and admiration.
I took this picture this morning (Sunday, September 30) at the Catholic chapel of the Morongo Tribe Reservation.  Our Lay La Salette sister, Isabel is the person in charge of Liturgy for the home parish of the Chapel and so we went to the chapel to join the community for the Holy Mass.  We were very warmly received by the faithful who were gathered in the small ante room which leads to the nave.  They did not know us, but they all broke off their conversation, stood up and welcomed us with fraternal hugs, smiles and gleaming eyes.  When they found out that Belle had been assigned to the parish as the Liturgy Coordinator, they were all very happy.
Before I let you go, do not forget that this is the  MONTH OF THE ROSARY.
******************

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hola a todos. Este es un buen mes porque algunos de mis favoritos miembros de la comunión de los santos van a ser celebrados. En primer lugar, los Ángeles Custodios, seguido por los 8 jesuitas franceses martirizados por los Pueblos Indígenos del Noreste de l'América del Norte en lo que hoy es Canadá y el Estado de Nueva York (Jean de Breboeuf, Isaac Jogues los cuales aparecen a cabo de cartel en el calendario), San Ignacio de Antioquía y, por último, como novedad este año, Santa Kateri Tekakwitha, Lirio de los Mohawks. Ella aparece en la pintura de piel de oveja en el lado izquierdo de la pantalla. El mundo tuvo que esperar 332 años antes de poder celebrar le plenitud de la santitad de esta virgen valiente. Recuerdo admirando ella cuando yo estaba creciendo en la parte occidental de Massachusetts donde los jesuitas franceses fueron héroes y Kateri fue honrado y reverenciado. Si Dios quiere, estaré en la Plaza de San Pedro a Roma para levantar mi corazón a ella con amor y admiración.
Esta foto la tomé esta mañana (domingo, 30 de septiembre) en la capilla católica de la Reserva de la tribu Morongo en California. Nuestra hermana, Isabel, Laica Saletina es la persona a cargo de la Liturgia de la parroquia de la Capilla y así que nos fuimos a la capilla para unirse a la comunidad de la Santa Misa.   Estábamos muy calorosamente recibido por los fieles que se reunieron en el pequeña antesala que conduce a la nave. Ellos no nos conocían, pero todos ellos interrumpieron su conversación, se levantaron y nos recibieron con abrazos fraternales, sonrisas y ojos brillantes. Cuando se enteraron de que Belle había sido asignada a la parroquia como el coordinador de la liturgia, todos estaban muy contentos.
Antes de dejarve, no se olviden que este es el MES DEL ROSARIO.
A VERY PRECIOUS GIFT -- UN CADEAU TRES PRECIEUX -- UN REGALO PRECIOSO
Ellen Herrel and Isabel Dion
In Honor of the 2012 Feast of Our Lady of La Salette, the attached video highlights the First International La Salette Laity Summit held September 1—10, 2011, in La Salette, France.
It was a remarkable experience!
A tous les Salletins, laïcs et voues, j'ai le grand honneur de vous présenter un oeuvre de grande beauté et fruit de longues heures de sacrifice et de fatigue. Ellen Herrel, la plus jeune et la plus grande dans la photo a produit une présentation "YouTube" pour célébrer le premier anniversaire de la Rencontre des Laïcs de La Salette qui a eu lieu a la sainte Montagne du 1 au 10 septembre.  Cette présentation est vraiment hors catégorie comparée aux simples diaporama que nous produisons de temps en temps pour vous amuser.  Le vidéo de Ellen est beaucoup plus riche que cela.  Ne croyez pas que vous allez vous en échapper avec deux minutes a la course et "houppe, c'est fini."  Pas du tout, mes amis.  Asseyez-vous bien confortablement, avec un verre si c'est cela qui vous plait, et calmez-vous les nerfs dans la paix du Seigneur en préparation d'une méditation de 22 minutes.  Je vous assure que ne le regretterez point.  Soufflez-lui une grande bise de gratitude pour son travail et l'amour qu'il représente
Malheureusement, je vous raconte toutes ces chose et maintenant je doit vous dire que le vidéo est tout en anglais.  C'est Ellen elle-même qui déclame.  Elle parle lentement et clairement.  Si vous avez la moindre capacité,  meme séminale, vous en jouirez.  Je vous invite d'essayer.
Merci, Ellen.
                                 ESPAÑOL
 A todos Salletinos, laicos y comprometidos, tengo el honor de presentar una obra de gran belleza y fruto de muchas horas de sacrificio y de fatiga. Ellen Herrel , la más joven y la más alta en la foto, produce una presentación "YouTube" para celebrar el primer aniversario de la reunión de Laicos Saletinos  celebrado en la Montaña Sagrada 1-10 de septiembre. Esta presentación es realmente alejada de las presentaciónes de diapositivas ocasionales que se producen de vez en cuando para divertirse.  El video que Ellen realizo es mucho más que eso. No pienses que escaparás con dos minutos a la carrera y "puff, se acabó." Nada de eso, mis amigos. Siéntese cómodamente con una bebida, si eso es lo que te gusta, y calme los nervios en la paz del Señor, en preparación para la meditación de 22 minutos. Le aseguro que no se arrepentirá de punto. Sople un gran beso de gratitud por su trabajo y su amor.
Desafortunadamente, yo estoy diciendo todas estas cosas y ahora tengo que decirte que el vídeo está en Inglés. Ellen es en sí mismo la declamadora. Ella habla despacio y con claridad. Si usted tiene alguna habilidad, aun seminal, que disfrute. Te invito a probar.
Gracias, Ellen.
                              ENGLISH
To all La Salettes lay and vowed, I have the honor to present a work of great beauty and the fruit of long hours of sacrifice and fatigue. Ellen Herrel , the younger and taller of the two in the photo produce a "YouTube" presentation  to celebrate the first anniversary of the meeting of La Salette Laity held at the Holy Mountain from 1 to 10 September. This presentation is really not the simple occasional slideshow that we produce from time to time for your enjoyment. The video that Ellen has put together is much more than that. Do not think that you will escape with two minutes running and "poof, it's over." Not at all, my friends. Sit comfortably with a drink if that's what you like, and calm your nerves the  in the peace of the Lord in preparation for a 22 minute meditation.  I assure you, you will not regret it. Blow her a big kiss of gratitude for her work and her love for Our Lady and for us.
Unfortunately, I am telling you all these things and now I must tell you that the video is in English. Ellen herself is the narrator. She speaks slowly and clearly. If you have any ability, even only a seminal one,  you will enjoy this. I invite you to try.
Thank you, Ellen.
LA MADRE DE JESUS EN NUESTRO REDEDOR
Moreno Valley, Sep. 16, 2012
La dramatizacion de la apparicion a La Salette se presento despues de la lectura del evangelio en las tres misas en lengua hispana.  La muchacha en en papel de la santisima virgen declamo todo de memoria.  Fiel a los datos historicos, el papel de Lulu se presento en silencio absoluto, sin nerviocismo, en todas las presentaciones.  La doctora responsable para la construction de la dramatizacion se vede sentada, vestida de blanco detras de Maximino y Melania.  No est otra que nuestra hermana Isabel (Belle) Dion.  Esperamos de recivir la gravacion entre un plazo de 10 dias.
La mise en scène de l'apparition a La Salette a eu lieu après la lecture de l'Évangile dans les trois messes en langue espagnole. La jeune fille dans le role de la Sainte Vierge a declame le message entierement par cœur. Fidèle aux données historiques, le rôle de Lulu a été présenté dans un silence absolu, sans enervement dans toutes les présentations. La diplomee responsable de la construction, par ecrit, de la dramatisation se voit, a l'arriere plan, vêtue en blanc derrière, et entre, Maximin et Melanie. Ce n'est nulle autre que notre soeur Isabel (Belle) Dion. Nous sommes impatients de recevoir les disques electroniques dans une dizaine de jours.
The dramatization of the apparition at La Salette was staged after the Gospel reading in the three Spanish-language Masses. The girl in the role of the Blessed Virgin recited the entire message by heart. True to historical data, the role of Lulu was presented in absolute silence, without any neervousness in all presentations. The doctor responsible for the construction of the dramatization is seen sitting, dressed in white, behind and between Maximin and Melanie. It is none other than our sister Isabel (Belle) Dion. We look forward to receiving the recordings in a period of about 10 days.
