2nd DAY OF CHRISTMAS

(s)He came for testimony,^* to testify to the light, so that all might believe through Him.  (s)He was not the light, but coometo testify to the light.  The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world. (John 1; 7 - 9)

Le deuxième  jour de Noel  est dédie a l’évangéliste qui nous dévoile comme nul autre le mystère de la divinité de Jésus.  C’est au coeur  de la lumière que la belle Dame de La Salette dévoile les péchés de ses enfants pour leur faire savoir ce qui cause leurs misères morales et économiques.  Elle, comme St. Jean nous dit ce que nous devons faire pour nous approcher de son Fils.  Il y a deux jours que avons senti la présence de Jésus d'une façon comme il nous a enseigner, "...En mémoire de moi."  Remercions donc Notre Mère Marie pour nous avoir rappeler de notre devoir de disciples et faisons le résolution de vivre selon ses avis.

.El segundo día de Navidad se dedica a l'evangelista que revela como ningún otro el misterio de la divinidad de Jesús.  Es en el corazón de la luz que la Hermosa Señora de La Salette revela los pecados de sus hijos para que sepan lo que es la causa de su miseria moral y económica. Ella, como San Juan nos dice lo que tenemos que hacer para estar más cerca de su Hijo. Hace dos días, nos pareció la presencia de Jesús de una manera como El no enseño, "... En memoria de mí." Así que gracias a la Madre María que nos recuerda nuestro reto de discípulos y la obligacion de vivir de acuerdo a sus avisos.

The second day of Christmas is dedicated to the Evangelist who reveals as none other the mystery of the divinity of Jesus. In the heart of the light the beautiful Lady of La Salette reveals the sins of her children to let them know what is causing their moral and economic misery. She, as St. John does  tells us what we need to do to get closer to her Son. Two days ago we felt that the presence of Jesus in the way that He taught us "... In remembrance of me." So thank Mother Mary for reminding us of our duty as disciples and the resolve that we must have to live according to His advice.

Diciembre 25 ya se acabo.  La nueva vida que aporto Jesus en el mondo continua.  En los 12 dias siguientes vamos a leer la historia de los primeros tiempos de la Santa Iglesia.  Impezamos con la historia de Esteban, diacono y protomartir.  Es la prophecia de que va sucedeer cuando llega la hora de Jesus.   Lucas nos da un rayito de que nos espera cuando nos dedicamos a l'amor de Dios.  Maria a La Salette tambien nos dice cuanto nos costera la nuestra conversion.  El esfuerzo necesario para lograr a la reconciliacion completa es que debemos morir a se mismo.  Es un martirio por suppuesto.  Que rapido passamos del presepio a la cruz.  Debemos pensar en esto muy seriosamente.

December 25 is over.  The new life that Jesus brought us continues. . In the 12 days following the 25th, we will read the history of the early days of the Holy Church. We start with the story of Stephen, deacon and martyr. It is the prophecy of what will happen when it comes to Jesus versus the officials of the religion . Luke gives us a glimmer of that which awaits us when we are dedicated to the love of God. Mary at La Salette also tells us the cost of our conversion. The effort required to achieve full reconciliation calls for death to oneself. That, of course, is a martyrdom.How rapidly we pass from the Manger to the cross. We must think about this seriously.

Le 25 décembre est terminé.  La nouvelle vie que Jesus nous a apporte  continue dans le monde.  Durant les 12 jours qui suivent, nous allons lire l'histoire des premiers jours de la Sainte Eglise. Nous commençons avec l'histoire d'Étienne, diacre et martyr.  C'est la prophétie de ce qui va se passer quand il s'agit de la confrontation entre Jésus et les chefs de la religion.   Luc nous donne une lueur de ce qui nous attend lorsque nous sommes dédiés à l'amour de Dieu. Marie de La Salette nous dit aussi le coût de notre conversion. L'effort requis pour parvenir à une réconciliation complète nous exige de mourir à soi-même. Surement,  c'est la un martyre. Comme nous passons vite de la crèche a la croix. Nous devons nous donner a réfléchir sérieusement sur cette vérité.

This is the first day of our Novena.  During the next few days we will be meditating on the coming of the Savior.  We will be reliving the rigors of a voyage imposed upon the Holy Family by the Roman Empire and its puppet, Herod the Great.  Just as the Israelites crossed the desert from Egypt, so Joseph, Mary and the as yet unborn Jesus travel from Nazareth in Galilee to Bethlehem in Judea.  Just as Jesus walked from the Praetorium to Calvary, the end of the line is always an explosion of the splendor of God...The Promised Land, the Birth of the Savior and finally,  the Resurrection.  We join together in prayer and in sacrifice to accompany the Holy Family, not to be counted by the Romans, but to prepare ourselves to be counted among the disciples chosen to walk side by side with the Messiah.
Join us as we reflect upon the mystery that is unfolding before us as we obey the directive of Jesus to "Do this in memory of me."


C'est le premier jour de notre neuvaine.  Mettons-nous devant notre divin Pere durant les prochains jours pour plus facilement mediter sur la venue du Sauveur. Nous revivrons les rigueurs d'un voyage imposé à la Sainte Famille par l'Empire romain et le roi marionnette, Hérode le Grand. Tout comme les Israélites ont traversé le désert a parrtir de l'Egypte, de même Joseph, Marie partent de Nazareth en Galilée ert se metten en route pour Bethléheme en Judée. Tout comme Jésus a marché du Prétoire au Calvaire, la fin du courroux est toujours une explosion de la splendeur de Dieu ... La terre promise, la Naissance du Sauveur, et enfin, la Résurrection. Nous nous joignons dans un esprit de prière et de sacrifice pour accompagner la Sainte Famille, non pas pour être comptés par les Romains, mais pour nous préparer à être compté parmi les disciples choisis a marcher côte à côte avec le Messie.
Rejoignez-nous pour réfléchir sur le mystère qui se déroule devant nous pendant que nous repondons a la directive de Jésus: «Faites ceci en mémoire de moi».


Este es el primer día de nuestra Novena. Durante los próximos días vamos a meditar en la venida del Salvador. Vamos a volver a vivir los rigores de un viaje impuesto a la Sagrada Familia por el Imperio Romano y su títere, Herodes el Grande. Al igual que los israelitas cruzaron el desierto de Egipto, por lo que José, María y Jesús que viaje aún todavia no nacido, de Nazaret de Galilea a Belén en Judea. Así como Jesús caminó desde el pretorio al Calvario, al final de la línea es siempre una explosión de la gloria de Dios ... La Tierra Prometida, el nacimiento del Salvador y, por último, la Resurrección. Nos unimos en la oración y el sacrificio para acompañar a la Sagrada Familia, de no para ser contados por los romanos, sino para prepararnos para ser contado entre los discípulos elegidos para caminar codo con codo con el Mesías.

ADVENT -- TIME TO PRAY

Do you say your prayers well, my children?  This is a very relevant question. We should ask it to ourselves every day.  Listen to what our Holy Mother at La Salette told the children, Melanie and Maximin: , "...you must say at least one "Our Father" and a "Hail Mary" every day." Brothers and Sisters, we heard almost those same words from her  Son, when He taught his disciples to pray, by teaching them the "Our Father"...
This is the season of Advent. We are engaged in preparing ourselves not so much for the birth of the Christ  Child  because that happened more than 2000 years ago. Now, his Incarnation inspires us to prepare and get ready for his daily coming in our lives and his second coming at the end time.  The preparation for his birth by Mary and Joseph foreshadows our preparation for Christ’s coming  in our daily lives and his coming at the end time. We look up to Mary and Joseph to admire their many sacrifices, to respect the time they spent in prayer and to reflect on their life experience.  May we, in preparation for the celebration of the Incarnation,  nurture the desire to pray every day at least one "Our Father" and a "Hail Mary" for each other. And even, as suggested by the Beautiful Lady, if we have the opportunity, "...give it a little more.

ST. JEROME IN A SHEPHERDS' CAVE, BETHLEHEM

This is a blog that reaches many, many alumni of La Salette mission schools in the Cagayan Valley of Isabela, in the northern part of Luzon Island in the Philippines.  Some years ago it was a rather small and insignificant tool to communicate the news of Our Lady of La Salette to expatriate and at home Filipinos, lovers of Our Lady.  Now, this space has become home for all of our Holy Mother Mary's children.  We look to her every day of our lives and strive to dry her tears by our kindness and prayers.  Now let us remember  Mother Mary during the last month before her delivery.  Can we imagine her, eight months pregnant, sitting on the back of a donkey for 100 miles from Nazareth to Bethlehem? 

It is through this sacrifice of Mary that we are introduced to the passion of her Son Jesus.  It is into these hardships that we dip our own selves into the hard work of helping one another to be good people.  The missionaries who carry the message of Jesus and Mary around the world, walk the 100 miles with Mary and the 3/4 of a mile with Jesus on the way to Calvary.  It is to the International family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph that this blog is dedicated and offered every time.  

NOW, SOME NEWS, 

Alumni and alumnae and others who lived in San Diego, California may have worked at a company called Kyocera International.  A man named George Woodworth was responsible for hiring many of you and maybe even your children.   He was a good and fair man.  One of the reasons why he hired me was because I had been a missionary in the Philippines for 11 years.  He was hoping that Kyocera could help the new immigrants from the Philippines.  George died on Friday, November 25 of this year.  I was invited by his widow to lead a prayer service at his funeral on Thursday, December 1, 2011.  Those present whom some of you may know were Gene Lyons, Steve Kulchin, Rob Stevens, Mike Kawamura and Mr. Shirai.

Father Maurice Cardinal has finished his radiology treatments.  He is fine.

Father Robert Campbell has died.

The Christmas lights have been lit at the National shrine of Our Lady of La Salette in Attleboro, Massachusetts.

NOTICE OF CHANGE:

The medical mission being prepared for Santiago city in the Philippines is rescheduled for March.

The first four candidates for the La Salette Lay Community in California will spend a day of retreat  on Saturday, December 17.  This will prepare them for the Rite of Welcome which will take place on Saturday, January 7, 2012.  We need your prayers.

""Do you pray well,my children?"  This is a very probing question.  It is one that we should ask ourselves every day.  When we finish our answer, we listen to the advice of Our Mother, "...say at least an Our Father and a Hail Mary."  Brothers and Sisters, we have heard these words originally from the Son when He counseled His disciples with nearly the same words.
This is the time of the first Sunday of Advent.  We will be spending the next month carrying the image of the Baby Jesus in our heads and our hearts.  Let's join together in a union of prayer and vow to pray at least an extra Our Father and a Hail Mary for one another during this preparation for the celebration of the Incarnation.  Finally, in the words of our Holy Mother, if we have more time, let's do more.

Brazil -- Mario Apone
             We have had a successful annual meeting of all the La Salette Lay Associates.  We presented the graphic images of the Holy Mother of La Salette from the United States and other countries.  I also have to tell you that I have been re-elected as the head coordinator of the association for another three year term.
              We are happy that the Prayer Booklet of the Way of Life has been translated into English for the United States and then sent to Pierrot in France to be translated into French.

Philippines -- Marlene Maristela
      The Philippines had a general meeting of Lay Associates on November 19.  Here is the short email.

I would like to share with you a copy of my talk in front of the Ina ng Pag-Asa Quezon  City Chapter Candidates for Lay Associates last November 19, 2011. Please see the attached Word file. I also sent Pierrot a copy and he asked me if he can translate it to French. He would like to share it with the sisters. I told him to forward to Anne Marie, of France, too, as I am quite close to her too. [The report is attached to the email in .PDF format.]

In addition, we had a Powerpoint presentation which narrated the event at the Shrine, The Objectives and Methodologies of our Encounter, The presentation of Bridge or Fence in Tagalog Version, the presentation of our “Inculturated drawing of Our Lady” and the Ten Commandments of Reconciliation. The file is too long , it might occupy your file if I send it. Nevertheless,   I am just so happy and inspired to let you know about it also.

USA -- West Coast -- Southern California

Fr. Maurice Cardinal, MS, spiritual guide of the Lay Associates Community in Southern California is doing very well getting through radiology treatments.  He has but six more to go and he still has his hair! 

There are four candidates for this new community.  There will be a one day retreat on December 17 and the celebration of the Rite of Welcome for them at the 10:00 AM Mass on Sunday, December 18.  Pictures and short identifying bios will be forthcoming.

The "Father" of the U.S La Saleatte Lay Associate Community, Fr. Gilles Genest, MS has become critically ill.  Let us accompany him with our prayers.
